Your Journey Starts Here!

Congratulations on taking the first step towards bringing home a Siamese or Balinese kitten! We look forward to working with you through this process and answering any questions you may have. We enjoy working closely with our families and helping them find their purrfect Siamese.

To start I like to explain a little bit about us, our process and of course our amazing kittens!

First and foremost, our Sweeties are like our children, they are pre-spoiled, cherished and loved. They sit in our laps, sleep in our beds, climb on our laptops and purposely knock stuff off of our shelves. They are part of our family, and we love every one of them!

Every kitten born in our home is handled daily. They are highly socialized right from the start. As they grow, we work with them to teach independence and help develop confidence. We regularly introduce new toys and give them unique areas to explore. They are constantly challenged with various puzzle toys and enjoy spending time looking out our huge picture window. Our kittens grow to be self-confident, extremely intelligent, and sociable. You will fall in love with their bright, bubbly, personalities and their curious nature. Our Siamese line is truly special. It is something we worked very hard for, and are extremely proud of.

In our home, our cats are fed a holistic, high-protein, premium diet. Our cattery is closed, and our kittens are guaranteed against genetic defects for a full year with an optional 3-year health guarantee if you continue feeding Life’s Abundance premium cat food or Purina Pro Plan’s Kitten Food (yes, the nutrition you provide is that important!).

Health Care and Breeding Guidelines

Our kittens are FIV/FeLV negative and flea & parasite free. They are vet checked and carry pet insurance. Your new kitten will be wormed and have their first set of shots, which includes the FVRCP vaccine. This protects them from rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia (also known as distemper) all scary and often fatal diseases to growing kittens. By choosing one of our Sweeties, you can be sure you are taking home a happy, healthy kitten.

We breed for the Traditional Applehead Siamese look. We follow the guidelines from the Cat Fancier’s Association and The Traditional Cat Association. We also breed for temperament and closely follow the guidelines there as well. Your cat will be loving, loyal, extremely intelligent, perhaps a bit needy, and very vocal! Something to keep in mind if you have never owned a Siamese.

Our kittens are generally scheduled to go home between 9-12 weeks, sometimes a particular one or two may need a little extra time with mom. This is always a co-decision from our observations and our vet’s. We want to make sure the transition is always under the best circumstances.

Our Kitten Contract

Like all reputable breeders, we have a contract we ask our new pet parents to look over and sign. Nothing scary, just simple guidelines to make sure our babies are going to responsible homes. This includes asking that our cats are not used for work or breeding purposes, that our kitties are not declawed and under no circumstances abandoned, given to any pet shop, humane society, pound, shelter, research facility, or euthanized for behavioral problems. We always ask if you can no longer take care of one of our kitties, and you cannot find suitable re-homing that you return him/her to us.

Very important! We do not make exceptions on the declawing, please do not ask, and please do not just assume we will never know. We are very passionate about this in particular. If declawing is something you are considering, please spend some time learning why it is so harmful. Many will suffer severe pain for the rest of their lives. Cats claws are not made to be removable. A claw is not a fingernail, it is attached to the bone and requires amputating part of the bone in order for the claw to be removed. This is comparable to cutting off all a human’s fingers at the last knuckle. In no way is this a harmless operation. It is essential to us that our babies are protected from this procedure. We want to make sure they all go to safe, loving homes and are given the best life possible. This is why we require our families to promise not to declaw.

You may notice, unlike most breeders, we do not have an application process. We did once start to put one together, but it just felt silly. Most of the questions that were suggested by shelters, rescues, and other breeders seemed like they were written to try to trick the families into stating something that might eliminate them from adopting. For example, common questions like, “Do you plan on allowing your new kitten outside?” or “If renting, do you have written authorization from your Landlord to have pets?”. The answers to be approved should be obvious, but things like allowing your cats to go outside is still popular abroad and was popular here in the US not too long ago. We do not want to automatically disqualify families based on a short form where they are expected to know the answers we expect. Instead, we like to get to know our new families and explain our requirements so that they understand what is best for their new kitten, who will always be one of our babies as well.

Once a family places a deposit with us, we send them our Family Form Questionnaire. This helps us to get to know them and their family structure a little better. Then we can help advise them on the right kitten or kittens that will best fit into their lifestyle.

PLACING YOUR DEPOSIT

We believe responsible breeding is only breeding when you have secured homes for all the kittens you plan to have. This way, we never risk bringing unwanted kittens into the world. Of course, from time to time we may have an abundance of a certain color point or gender, so it never hurts to check in with us.

Most families will have a wait time between 3-8 months. This estimation is usually pretty accurate. However, it is impossible to know ahead of time the size of each litter, which genders to expect and the exact number of each colorpoint our Moms will have, so please keep in mind it is possible you may end up waiting a bit longer than expected.

Deposit Information

Deposits are $550 and are non-refundable. We worked long and hard to come up with an amount we believed to be fair for a non-refundable deposit. We added the bank fees we pay on every deposit taken, compensation for the time and work put into each family after a deposit is made, emails, shuffling around the waitlist, our loss on families turned away because of long waits or no room on the waitlist. This is the average amount we lose due to families changing their minds. Keep in mind we are very flexible, we can transfer your deposit to other kittens, and we allow our families to remain on our waitlist for as long as needed. However, to be fair we cannot refund your deposit if you change your mind, this would require us to raise our prices on all families to compensate, which would be unfair. Please make sure you are committed to taking home a Sweetie before you place a deposit with us.

Deposits can be paid via PayPal, Zelle, CashApp, Facebook or you may contact us to send a check. Your deposit will be applied to your balance, and you can pay the remainder by cash or money order at the time of pickup. We can only accept checks for full payment if they are sent to us at least 2 weeks in advance of kitten pick-up. You may also pay your remaining balance through Zelle, CashApp and Facebook at no charge or by PayPal with added fees.

Bringing Home Two Kittens

We always love placing littermates together! Raising Siamese together, you will get a completely different experience. You will see behaviors you wouldn’t ordinarily see and develop two very special and unique relationships with each of them. Those that have done it, overwhelmingly choose to do it again.

At this time, we can only offer a small discount of $100 for those who take more than one kitten. To come up with our pricing, we use a formula that adds all our costs for the year and then divides it by our average estimated number of kittens. We are not breeding with the intent to make a profit. Our yearly health insurance on just our breeding females alone is over $7000 a year! Vet visits, food, litter, toys, licensing, it all adds up. To breed safely, and humanely it cost quite a bit and our kittens are priced only to cover cost with perhaps just a little extra for emergencies. This, unfortunately, doesn’t leave room for large discounts.

Choosing Your Kitten

Our waitlist works a little differently than most. Instead of just assigning a kitten based on your preference, we like to give our families a chance to choose their kitten. We usually start our official choosing at around 6 to 7 weeks, by then their colorpoints are established and they each have distinct personalities. Sometimes during busy kitten seasons, we may have to delay selecting until around 8 weeks. Every available kitten will have at least four photos posted from at least two different ages. At least one photo will have been taken within the last week. We also post a custom video of the kittens, from every litter. Last and perhaps most important to our families is our detailed personality profile of all available kittens. This allows our families to make sure their new kitten is a good fit for their family.

When it is your turn, you will have the option to adopt any available kitten from your chosen colorpoint and gender, or you may decide to wait and remain on the waitlist for the next available kitten. We do not penalize those who decide to wait, we strongly believe families should only take home their kitten when they are ready. It is essential to us that every family gets the right kitten at the right time.

Once you place your deposit, you will receive an email confirming your successful submission of the kitten contract and deposit payment. It will also detail the next steps in our adoption process. Within a few days, you will also receive a personal greeting and a more personalized timeline of when we may have your preferred kitten available.

Below we also have a set of questions we are most frequently asked. Of course, if you need additional info, you can always contact us by sending an email at:

siamesesweeties@gmail.com

When messaging, it is helpful to let us know you have already read through our “Siamese Sweetie Info Page and FAQ”. We receive 25+ messages and emails a day, with the majority of questions being covered on this page. Most times we direct the families that message us here, so we can continue to spend the majority of time with the kitties instead of answering emails all day. By letting us know you have already visited our web page you won’t be re-directed, plus we tend to give priority to those who have taken the time to get to know us a bit first!

(A quick disclaimer our Facebook Page does have an auto message set up to direct families to this page, so if you receive that message just go ahead and send a second message stating you have read through our website and are looking for additional information).

Thank you for considering us! We are excited to work with you, and we will do our best to get that special baby kitten in your arms real soon!
